New Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ Offers 11th Gen Intel CPUs
A Microsoft Surface tablet
with a removable SSD and default hardware virtualization tools will
start shipping later this month to business and education customers
struggling to get tech into the hands of their homebound workers and
students.
The new Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ will also feature
Intel’s latest 11th Generation Core processors, helping to potentially
increase battery life and performance. Microsoft says the Surface Pro 7+
will be more capable and last longer away from a power outlet than the
consumer-focused Surface Pro 7, even with its added hardware security and virtualization tools.
Although the Surface Pro 7+ is intended for business customers and will mostly be sold through large-scale purchase agreements, you’ll still be able to buy one at Microsoft’s online store. The base model
Surface Pro 7+ has a list price of $899. It comes with an Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of memory, and a 128GB SSD. The company will also sell a $1,149 upgraded model with LTE and eSIM support, as well as a Core i5, Iris Xe graphics, and increased memory and storage amounts.
Neither of these configurations include the optional digital stylus or keyboard cover. The Surface Pro Signature Type Cover, a $160 accessory, attaches magnetically to the tablet and comes in complementary colors, including the Platinum option of the Surface Pro 7+.
In addition to the switch to 11th Generation Core processors, the Surface Pro 7+ will also feature a redesigned removable boot drive. This allows IT departments easier access during repairs and replacements, and also lets users with extremely sensitive data store the Surface Pro 7+’s boot drive in a separate location from the device.
